System Requirements

Windows Support

The following table is used in determining the server specifications for an InformaCast server.

InformaCast Hardware System Requirements

The core operating system supported for Singlewire Software's InformaCast application is Windows Server, which can be either the 2003 or 2008 platform.  There is no requirement for using the Cisco MCS platform, but it is highly recommended that you use the equivalent hardware in determining the processor and memory requirements for your deployment.

Virtualization Support

Use of virtualization is now officially supported for InformaCast as of June 1, 2008. Incorrect configuration of virtualization may have a significant impact on system performance. If you decide to use virtualization:

  • Please acknowledge risk
  • Our support team may ask for you to move your installation to dedicated hardware when performance-related issues are encountered
  • Singlewire Support personnel will not be used for support of the virtualized environment; please consult with a virtualization professional in regards to setup and configuration

Network Requirements

Singlewire recommends that network configurations that support Multicast and QoS be in accordance with Cisco's Design Guides. For more information on these design guides, please refer to the following links:
