Plugins for Extending Mass Notification with Singlewire InformaCast

Starting with the release of InformaCast 8.0, users will have option of connecting with other systems and devices through the use of our plugin architecture. Need to send notification to social media sites, email, rss, and more?

With InformaCast plugins, simply install and configure the plugins, then choose them from the list of endpoints like you would any other device. Simple to install, easy to use, and a quick way to extend the reach of your notification.

Inbound CAP Plugin

The Inbound CAP (Common Alerting Protocol) plugin allows you to poll various data sources (which are typically RSS feeds from public safety organizations) and match the messages received from these data sources with message rules (which are used to define what types of messages you are interested in rebroadcasting to InformaCast recipients).

Cisco Digital Media Manager (DMM) Plugin

As a way of further expanding the number of people reached with InformaCast broadcasts, the Digital Media Manager (DMM) plugin allows you to send InformaCast broadcasts containing text to Cisco Digital Media Players (DMPs). With a correctly configured, active DMM server, you can configure InformaCast to treat Digital Media Player groups as a new device type that can be assigned to a recipient group just as you would a phone or speaker.

The Digital Media Manager plugin only supports the Cisco 4400 Digital Media Player series and Cisco Digital Media Manager software version 5.2.2 or higher. Support for additional models will be added in the near future.

The Mobility Subscription Service allows you to include external phones, email addresses, SMS text messaging, and cell phones as eligible recipients of an InformaCast broadcast. Once you have created accounts for these recipients through the Mobility plugin, you can assign these recipients to a recipient group and send them InformaCast broadcasts.

The Conference Call plugin allows a user to automatically initiate a conference call session with a pre-determined group of phones. For example, when an emergency is declared and an InformaCast broadcast is sent, all public safety managers could be automatically called and placed into a conference call session to discuss the situation. Members of the conference call group also have the ability to listen to the broadcasted message before accepting the conference call request.

M2M (Machine-to-Machine) Plugin

As a way of further expanding the number of people reached with InformaCast broadcasts, the M2M plugin allows you to send InformaCast broadcasts when a contact closure has been triggered or trigger a contact closure when a specific broadcast has been sent. Once you have configured your contact closures, you can add them to InformaCast: input ports will allow you to trigger InformaCast broadcasts when they’re activated, and output ports can be added as recipients to InformaCast’s messages so that when they’re sent as broadcasts, the contact closure’s output port(s) is activated.

As a way of further expanding the number of people reached with InformaCast broadcasts, the Script plugin allows Java and JavaScript programmers to build a custom integration by creating a script file containing code that can participate at various phases of the broadcast. The integration can be deep—relaying audio associated with the broadcast—or simple, depending on how much code is written, and how much of the exposed interface is used.

Once you have an email account set up within the Inbound Email plugin, you can configure email broadcasts that contain how the email account should be monitored, the broadcast to trigger, and the recipient groups to receive the broadcast.
