Each month, we feature one of our stellar team members on our blog. Learn more about them and what they do at Singlewire.

How long have you been at Singlewire and what’s your position?

I’ve been working at Singlewire for three and a half years, and I am Singlewire’s Technical Product Manager.

Please describe what you do at Singlewire.

I come up with the vision for a particular feature, and work with our UX team and our development team to bring that vision to fruition within our InformaCast Fusion product. This mostly is talking with customers and the business side of the organization to iron out the specifics of a feature, and then translating that into something that our developers can build and our customers will love!

What do you like best about working at Singlewire?

The best thing about working at Singlewire is that I’m always given the autonomy to solve problems in any way I see fit. I’ve never been told how to solve a problem, but rather just given problems to solve!

What’s been your favorite project you’ve worked on here?

My favorite project so far has been our redesign of the InformaCast Advanced UI. That was an incredibly large project that had a large positive impact on the majority of our customers. It was about time we brought InformaCast Advanced into the 21st century!

Where do you see Singlewire in the next five years?

InformaCast is a phenomenal product. It is very general and flexible, which makes it useful in many market vertices. In five years, I see InformaCast having more niche market fits.

What are your favorite things to do outside of work?

I have deep roots in nerdom. It’s probably the thing that got me into the technology industry. So, my favorite things to do outside of work are everything nerdy! I love video games, and boardgames! Specifically, strategic ones!

What’s the best place you’ve traveled to and why?

About five years ago, my wife and I did a tour of Europe. We went all over the place, but the best place out of all was Paris. Specifically, The Palace of Versailles. The history. The plants. The statues. I had the best time just roaming around the Gardens of Versailles for a day. I need to get back there sometime!

If you could witness any historical event, what would you want to witness?

I don’t know if it’s because I recently saw Hamilton, but I think I would like to watch the Battle of Yorktown! Sure, it’s the final battle of the American Revolution, but that’s not why I would want to watch it. America did some really well-coordinated, tricky tactics with their allies for the battle to be successful!

If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

I mean it would have to be pizza. I assume I would be able to alter the kind of pizza each time? If that’s the case, pizza is going to be your swiss army knife of food. In the morning you could have a breakfast pizza with eggs, for lunch a normal pepperoni pizza, and you could end the day with a BBQ chicken pizza.

Tell us a little about your family.

I have my amazing wife, Anna, and our three-year-old son, Owen. Anna and I have been married for almost four years, but we’re high school sweethearts, so we’ve been together for basically forever. Our toddler is wonderful, but he’s a "threenager" right now. It’s the perfect time for a pandemic. You know, being trapped in a house with a potty training "threenager." Everything’s fine. Really.

Send help. Please.

Do you have any special talents?

Look, I don’t want to brag, but I make the best brandy old fashioned that you’re ever going to find in Wisconsin. It irritates my wife because it takes a lot of time to make, but you can’t rush perfection!

What was the last book you read?

Inspired: How to Create Tech Products Customers Love by Michael Cagan. A really great book that has changed my outlook on product management! If building software is your thing, check it out!

What is the best concert you’ve ever attended?

I’m ashamed to admit that I’ve never attended a concert…I feel lame now.

Spotify, Pandora, or iTunes, and why?

None of the above! We use Google Music. Mostly because we have Google Homes.

One horse-sized duck or 100 duck-sized horses?

I’ve never eaten horse, but I have had duck, and it’s delicious. So, this is an easy one. Horse-sized duck!

Where’s your hometown?

I grew up in Eau Claire, Wis. I had lived there my entire life up to graduating college! Then I got a job in Madison and have been here ever since!
