Singlewire Spotlight: Doug Gland

Each month, we feature one of our stellar team members on our blog. Learn more about them and what they do at Singlewire.

How long have you been at Singlewire and what’s your position?

I have been at Singlewire just over three months working as a territory manager for Nevada, Utah, Southern California, Hawaii, and Australia. I am based in San Diego, California.

Please describe what you do at Singlewire.

As a territory manager, I am responsible for three key activities. I work closely with Cisco to make sure we are aligned and developing customer opportunities together. I evangelize Singlewire’s value proposition to our resellers and help them to drive more opportunities. I also work directly with our customers to grow what they are currently using and to develop new customers in my territory. Oh, I also have fun!

What do you like best about working at Singlewire?

I have worked in a number of large corporations all over the world and have to say that Singlewire is a very special place. It has very talented people that are always willing to help out and an incredible product offering. It makes me proud to be part of the team.

What have you gained from working at Singlewire?

I think the main thing I have gained in working at Singlewire is that it is the first job I have ever had where I am really making a difference to people’s lives. I have been lucky to have sold technology that helps enable education, but Singlewire’s software is literally saving people. That is a real achievement at the end of every day.

Where do you see Singlewire in the next five years?

I look at the evolution of Singlewire thus far and am very excited about the future. I see a company that will continue to develop solutions that help people’s lives while maintaining it’s unique company culture. It’s a company that will support exciting technologies that haven’t even been invented yet.

I see Singlewire becoming more global and expanding its reach on the international stage—exciting!

What are your favorite things to do outside of work?

Is there really life outside of work? Just kidding!

I live right on the beach and love the outdoors, so I spend most of my time enjoying what Southern California has to offer: beach walks, hiking, camping in the desert, and gardening.

What’s the best place you’ve traveled to and why?

Botswana. When I was living in South Africa I traveled a lot of the continent. I did a self-drive safari for a month through Botswana. Botswana is one of the most beautiful and inspiring places on the planet. It is safe, the people are amazing, educated, and happy. It has the most incredible wildlife I have ever seen. One of the last places you can see a herd of hundreds of elephant crossing the plains without a care in the world. It’s awesome!

What TV show or movie are you most ashamed to admit you love?

Sixteen Candles. Yes, it was the 80’s.

What is the best concert you’ve ever attended?

Hmmm…that is a tie between Michael Jackson and Tina Turner

Where’s your hometown?

I was originally born in Valparaiso, Indiana near Lake Michigan.

Then took a little life journey—Omaha…San Diego…LA...London…LA again…London again…South Africa…Sydney, Australia…San Diego. Full Circle!
