Singlewire Spotlight: Greg

Each month, we feature one of our stellar team members on our blog. Learn more about them and what they do at Singlewire.

How long have you been at Singlewire?

Nine years this month.

Please describe what you do at Singlewire.

I’m a Territory Manager covering all of our SLED customers in the west, from Bakersfield to Fairbanks.

What do you like best about working at Singlewire?

The level of expertise from everyone on each team is pretty amazing!

What’s been your favorite project you’ve worked on here?

In sales, it’s easy to say landing the big complex opportunities takes the cake. But really, it’s the day-to-day interactions with our customers and learning how they are using InformaCast that is really exciting and rewarding.

What have you gained from working at Singlewire?

The very important principle of seeking first to understand, then to be understood. When you allow customers the chance to tell their story, you have a deeper understanding of how best to help them. It’s all about customer service!

Where do you see Singlewire in the next five years?

Five years bigger!

What are your favorite things to do outside of work?

I play in a local Sacramento band (Zen Arcadia) and mix audio for live music on the weekends.

What’s the best place you’ve traveled to and why?

It’s the next place I travel to. Presently, Juneau, Alaska is my favorite. Stunningly beautiful!

If you could witness any historical event, what would you want to witness?

I think to see the Beatles very first show in America live, in person would have been amazing. I missed seeing the last show of Stevie Ray Vaughn. Had tickets to the show and ended up not going.

What TV show or movie are you most ashamed to admit you love?

For TV, The Bachelor/Bachelorette, and for movies, Howard Stern’s Private Parts. I used to work in radio many years ago and found his story of working his way into radio fascinating and very entertaining.

If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

Tacos! Because who doesn’t want to eat tacos forever?

Tell us a little about your family.

I recently remarried, and we have three boys and three girls between us (a real life Brady’s Bunch). We also a dog named Lucy and cat named RickyBobby.

Do you have any special talents?

Complaining about how bad the sound guy is at any given live music event, and how I can mix better.

What was the last book you read?

I’m in the middle of Steve Lukather’s autobiography, Gospel According to Luke. He is a founding member of the band Toto and has played guitar and sang on thousands of pop and rock songs as a studio musician over a 50-year career.

What is the best concert you’ve ever attended?

1988, LaCrosse Wisconsin, Tesla and Def Leppard.

Spotify, Pandora or iTunes and why?

iTunes. I’m one of those Apple fanboys.

One horse-sized duck or 100 duck-sized horses?

Duck sized horses, or just make them miniature goats and my wife will be super happy with doing her goat yoga every day!

Where’s your hometown?

Viroqua Wisconsin.
