Singlewire Spotlight: Sarah—HR

Each month, we feature one of our stellar team members on our blog. Learn more about them and what they do at Singlewire. Now with video!

How long have you been at Singlewire and what’s your position?

I started at Singlewire in June of 2016. I’m the Human Resources Manager.

Please describe what you do at Singlewire.

I am responsible for anything related to Human Resources. My main responsibility is hiring and onboarding talented individuals to join our team. I get to work with all departments within our organization on any other human resources related topics and projects.

What do you like best about working at Singlewire?

No doubt, the people. I get to work with so many smart, creative, driven and just genuinely nice people. We all are incredibly passionate about our organization and our product, but also about each other.

What’s been your favorite project you’ve worked on here?

It’s not related to our product, but I started the Singlewire Culture Council in 2017. It’s a team made up of Singlewire employees from departments across the organization. We get together and plan the social events for the company throughout the year. It’s great to get a variety of different voices as we all have different ideas about what fun events to do. This year we will have our second annual “Souper Bowl” the Friday before the big game, our third annual March Madness celebration, and our third annual Chili Cook-Off (an employee favorite). Other notable events have been trivia contests, escape rooms, and Halloween Trick or Treating for employee’s children.

Where do you see Singlewire in the next five years?

Continuing to grow and becoming a leader in the emergency notification space. We have been continuing to diversify, and really listen to our customers to continue to make and enhance a quality product that will keep people safe and informed.

What are your favorite things to do outside of work?

My kids keep me pretty busy. They are involved in many activities and I think it’s important to be there to support them from the sidelines.

When I’m not on mom-duty, I enjoy being with family and friends. I love to cook and also like to try new restaurants. I’m a pretty big sports fan, especially football, and I cheer on anything that the Badgers are in.

Tell us a little about your family?

I’m a single mom of three awesome kiddos. Owen is 12, Jack is 9, and Ally is 6. We also have an adorable kitten named Eva.

Do you have any special talents?

It’s been a while, but I am a trained dancer. I started dancing when I was 3, and took ballet, tap and jazz for almost 15 years. My boys take hip-hop classes, and my daughter is following in her mom’s footsteps and is taking ballet and tap. It’s fun to practice with them at home!

What is the best concert you’ve ever attended?

Bare Naked Ladies in 2001. They put on a fantastic show. A close second would be any concert that I got to see at Red Rocks when I lived in Colorado. That venue is just spectacular.

Where’s your hometown?

I grew up here in Madison. After graduating from UW-Madison, I moved to Denver for nine years. After my first child was born, we moved back to this area to be closer to my parents, and to raise my kiddos in Wisconsin! I love it here!
