2019 Mass Notification Updates

2019 was a big year for Singlewire Software. We were recognized as a best place to work on a local and national level. Our InformaCast mass notification software was recognized with awards from American Security Today, Campus Safety Magazine, Security Today, and Commercial Integrator. And we continued to advance our product offerings to provide new features and partnerships that give our customers more ways to keep their people safe and informed.

We’ve divided this blog post into two sections. The first highlights important new partnerships we embarked on this year to expand the reach of InformaCast notifications and add value with tools not native to our software. The second highlights new product features that offer a number of mass notification enhancements.

New Partnerships

Microsoft

We previewed this partnership at the end of 2018, but in 2019 we were able to roll out the integration between InformaCast Fusion and Microsoft Teams. Organizations need to reach their people on devices and in applications they are already using. With 13 million daily active users, Microsoft Teams was a logical extension of our InformaCast mass notification ecosystem. An InformaCast bot can be downloaded from the Microsoft AppSource Store so Teams users can receive and trigger notifications in Teams. Read more…

Patriot One Technologies

Interest in threat detection technologies spiked in 2019, and in March, we announced our partnership with Patriot One Technologies. InformaCast integrates with three Patriot One PATSCANTM solutions that offer an effective recognition method for threat detection of weapons, explosives, chemical threats, public disturbances, and suspicious behavior. PATSCAN utilizes sensors or video surveillance for near real-time security response notification. When PATSCAN generates a threat alert, this can serve as a trigger for an InformaCast broadcast. Early Warning Labs

The most devastating emergencies are the ones that strike without any warning. Even a few seconds of notice can make a big difference in the outcome of an event. That was the reasoning behind our partnership with Early Warning Labs (EWL), a proven leader in Earthquake Early Warning (EEW) and an official partner of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and ShakeAlert™ EEW Project. Through a proprietary SaaS platform and hardware interface, EWL can deliver up to 60 seconds of warning before an earthquake strikes a designated facility. This software and hardware equipment can now be integrated with InformaCast to send mass communications throughout an organization before an earthquake strikes. Read more…

D4H Technologies

When an emergency occurs, you need to alert your people, but once you’ve done that, you need to manage the situation taking place. To provide our customers with tools to help them do that, we partnered with D4H Technologies to combine the power of InformaCast mass notification software with D4H incident reporting. InformaCast Fusion and D4H Incident Management can be seamlessly integrated to help responders communicate, collaborate, and ensure command throughout any situation; ultimately resulting in better outcomes and more efficient responses to crisis events. New Features and Hardware

New Paging Gateway

In May, we released a new hardware version of the InformaCast Paging Gateway. The Paging Gateway helps organizations deploy InformaCast across their Wide Area Network (WAN) when multicast is unavailable. This new hardware was developed to keep up with changing hardware platforms, keep pace with evolving security requirements, and provide more capabilities in terms of CPU. Users can now conduct more simultaneous broadcasts than the previous version. Read more…

InformaCast Command Center Available on Mobile

InformaCast Command Center was one of our major new features in 2018. It allowed users to create custom buttons for common scenarios so they could quickly and easily send detailed alerts. In July, we made this feature accessible on the InformaCast Mobile app. Now Command Center scenarios configured in the web console show up in the mobile app so administrators can customize and launch messages wherever they are. CTI Over TLS

The need for organizations to provide a secure environment when sending messages continues to grow, and mass notifications are no exception. That’s why Computer Telephony Integration (CTI) security and CTI-connected Plugins, as well as Computer Telephony Integration over Transport Layer Security (CTI over TLS) and CTI with Secure Real-Time Transport Protocol (CTI with SRTP) were added to InformaCast Advanced and CTI-connected plugins, in October. CTI over TLS ensures that communication between InformaCast and Unified Communications Manager is encrypted and authenticated, and CTI with SRTP ensures that calls between InformaCast and connected Cisco IP phones are encrypted and authenticated.

This is particularly relevant for government customers who run Cisco’s UCM Cloud for Government in their environments. In those environments, this is a required feature for solutions of this nature. Read more…

911 CallAware Listening for InformaCast Fusion

Our 911 CallAware feature is a powerful tool our customers leverage to receive alerts when someone calls 911 from a device within a building. We took the step this fall to add even more functionality to this feature by giving InformaCast Fusion users the ability to listen in live to ongoing 911 calls through the Fusion interface. This helps organizations understand the full context around a 911 call and provide an effective response. Read more…

InformaCast Advanced User Interface Redesign

To close out the year, we completely redesigned the user interface for InformaCast Advanced. This was done to improve the overall look and feel for our customers, as well as to simplify the interface to enhance usability. Menus are no longer buried, nothing is more than two clicks away, and certain settings and pages were consolidated for easier navigation. Advanced users will now be directed to the page most relevant to their role when they log in and can utilize wizard-like tools for creating messages and recipient groups. Read more…
