Mass Notification Failover

Singlewire Software has released server failover for its InformaCast Fusion mass notification solution. This new feature helps improve the reliability of InformaCast Fusion, so organizations that use it know it will deliver critical messages when it matters most. Failover, in conjunction with the already available distributed activation and survivable remote site notification (SRSN), helps increase the dependability of our solution.

Failover provides a safety net for organizations should their network go down or their notification system fail, mitigating the risk when trying to protect people from dangerous situations. In this blog post, we’ll explain how this new feature works and how it can benefit your organization to ensure your notifications reach your people even during catastrophic events.

Send Alerts During Catastrophic Events

The cloud infrastructure of InformaCast Fusion already has a high level of resiliency built into it. Failover for InformaCast Fusion has two InformaCast Fusion servers deployed at separate data center locations to help address any potential network or hardware issues within your environment. The primary InformaCast Fusion server is housed at one location, while the other location houses the backup. In the event the data center at the first location goes down, it will be detected by the InformaCast Fusion cloud infrastructure. This will then notify the backup server and activate it to take over the primary functions. Should internet connectivity fail at both server locations, local communication will determine which server should be active.

This is possible because InformaCast Fusion utilizes a hybrid-cloud architecture rather than relying only on communicating directly from server to server, ensuring that your organization will be able to continue sending InformaCast broadcasts.

Failover for InformaCast Fusion is included as part of High Availability, which also includes distributed activation, to distribute the notification workload, and SRSN, which places an InformaCast Fusion server at a site (either as a virtual or hardware appliance), so notifications continue to operate during an outage. For large enterprises and other organizations, these are mission-critical components that are required to ensure they are taking every possible measure to protect their people. With High Availability deployed, organizations can continue to send live, ad hoc, and pre-recorded audio, as well as DialCast, bell schedules, and more, to thousands of IP devices even during a data center outage.

Reach Everyone with Mass Notifications

Many organizations are turning to InformaCast Fusion because they recognize the importance of a mass notification system that can reach everyone. With the ability to send text and audio alerts to mobile and on-premises devices, organizations can rest easy knowing they are using every available channel to notify people of emergency events. Now, with high availability, they also have a tool built to withstand outages so they can continue to update people when they need information the most.
