Cisco Meraki – Enhanced threat detection with sensors and cameras

IntegrationsSensors/DetectorsVideo Surveillance

The Cisco Meraki cloud-managed platform and MT environmental sensors can provide organization officials with the insights they need to be aware of incidents. Meraki MT sensors integrated with InformaCast can trigger mass notifications and incident management scenarios when issues arise. InformaCast extends the reach of Meraki MT sensor alerts to all connected communication devices. Text, audio, and visual alerts can be sent throughout a building or to designated groups via desk phones, desktop computers, overhead speakers and paging systems, digital signage, and mobile devices. Depending on the severity of the situation, InformaCast also serves as an incident management tool, enabling organizations to gather key stakeholders via tools like Webex to assess situations and coordinate a response.

This integration strengthens InformaCast’s threat detection capabilities while expanding Cisco Meraki’s notification and incident management capabilities. This helps with:

  • Gaining critical insights into what’s happening inside a building to stay ahead of potential threats.
  • Knowing when building security may be compromised when doors are left open.
  • Knowing when students are vaping within a school building.
  • The ability to send instant alerts from easily accessible devices so school officials can respond quickly and resolve incidents efficiently.
  • Real-time insights into the situation that is unfolding with links to live video feeds so organization officials can deploy an appropriate response.

Use Cases

Cisco Meraki and Singlewire Software serve schools and other organizations looking to strengthen their safety and communication strategies. Together, these solutions help organizations address a wide range of threats and situations, including:

  • Meraki MT door open/close sensors can initiate an InformaCast notification when doors have been left open or are opened outside of normal school hours. Schools can set a schedule for when they want to be alerted about opened doors.
  • Air quality MT sensors monitor particulate matter, which can be used to detect when students may be vaping on school grounds. InformaCast notifications can be sent to alert school officials who can then intervene.
  • Meraki MT smart automation buttons can be mounted throughout buildings to request assistance for issues like fights in the hallway, a flooded bathroom, or any kind of safety or maintenance issue that may arise.
  • Cisco Meraki MV smart cameras can send InformaCast notifications with links to live camera feeds.
