Madison, Wis. – Dec. 6, 2023 – Singlewire Software, the leader in solutions that help keep people safe and informed, has won two 2023 “ASTORS” Homeland Security Awards from American Security Today for its Visitor Aware and InformaCast solutions. Visitor Aware was recognized with a Gold Award in the Best Access Control & Authentication Solution category, while the InformaCast Personal Duress Package was recognized with a Silver Award in the Best Mass Notification Solution Application category. Visitor Aware and InformaCast were honored for delivering enhanced value, benefits, and intelligence to end users in various government, homeland security, and public safety vertical markets.

“These awards are a clear indication that Visitor Aware and InformaCast help security leaders to detect threats, notify the appropriate people, and manage incidents,” said Terry Swanson, president and CEO of Singlewire Software. “We are honored to be recognized for our access control and mass notification achievements in American Security Today’s 2023 ‘ASTORS’ Awards Program.”

Visitor Aware enables organizations to notice and handle threats to safety from the moment they arise. Administrators can create customized guidelines for visitor approvals and keep sensitive areas free of unwanted guests. Visitor Aware incorporates ID scanning and facial recognition to screen visitors against important watchlists and active legal injunctions. The technology then alerts administrators of any flagged issues or threats to prevent these people from accessing the building. Those who are approved by the technology then have a printed pass to continue into the building. Additionally, Visitor Aware aids organizations in volunteer management, safety drill management, rostering, and reunification.

The InformaCast Personal Duress Package offers five ways workers can trigger notifications to request assistance. First, using a pre-configured button in the InformaCast app, workers can trigger an alert that is sent to internal safety teams with their name and location. The user is given instructions within the app, and the option to contact the safety team directly via a phone call. The second option is integration with wearable badges, which include a button that can be pressed to ask for help. The safety team receives the person’s name and location in this instance as well so they can respond quickly. Desktop panic buttons configured as keyboard shortcuts, virtual panic buttons on desktop phones, and integrations with physical panic buttons are also available. Additional functionality allows alerts to send information to 911 dispatchers, which meets the requirements of Alyssa’s Law and allows for better coordination between an organization and first responders.

“As the nation continues to respond to escalating threats from home and abroad, the innovative solutions being implemented to meet those threats, has led to tremendous growth in the field of Homeland Security,” said Michael Madsen, co-founder and publisher of American Security. “Today, the United States is increasingly focusing on protecting IT/cyber security networks and they are calling on innovative companies like Singlewire Software to help them do so.”

American Security Today’s Annual ‘ASTORS’ Awards, is the preeminent U.S. Homeland Security Awards Program. Now in its eighth year, it continues to recognize industry leaders of physical and border security, cybersecurity, emergency preparedness – management and response, law enforcement, first responders as well as federal, state, and municipal government agencies in the acknowledgment of their outstanding efforts to keep our nation secure.

“ASTORS’ nominations are evaluated on their technical innovation, interoperability, specific impact within the category, overall impact to the industry, relatability to other industry technologies, and application feasibility outside of the industry,” said AST’s Editorial Director Tammy Waitt.
