Singlewire Spotlight: Dan

Each month, we feature one of our stellar team members on our blog. Learn more about them and what they do at Singlewire.

How long have you been at Singlewire and what’s your position?

I started on February 4, 2019, and I’m a Sales Assistant.

Please describe what you do at Singlewire.

I’m in the sales renewals department. We help customers to renew their contracts they expire. I send out renewal quotes and process renewal purchase orders.

What do you like best about working at Singlewire?

The environment at Singlewire is what I like best about working here. For example, during March Madness, games were on throughout the day, so I could check in on updates while getting my work done. We also had a company bracket pool and had Buffalo Wild Wings catered in for when the Badgers played. This job offers a lot of freedom and perks I feel privileged to have.

What’s been your favorite project you’ve worked on here?

Not exactly a work project, but we did an escape room as a team-building exercise. I had never done one before, and it included coworkers in other departments who I otherwise would never work with.

What have you gained from working at Singlewire?

A workplace and job that I enjoy that better fits my personality. I come from banking, which was much more restrictive and rigid. Here, I’ve learned a lot about how software companies operate and the life cycle of a product, from developing to quality assurance to territory managers trying to sell it.

I’ve also made new friends here. A few of us went to a Bucks playoff game and I’ve hung out with many coworkers here outside of work.

What are your favorite things to do outside of work?

The NFL is my favorite thing. I watch every game and of course love the Packers. I’m in three fantasy football leagues with high school and college friends and created/run two of them. I’m also into sports gambling and always follow the spreads and odds.

I also work part-time at Sconnie Bar downtown. Working during Badger season gets crazy, but I’ve always enjoyed the bar/restaurant industry and the discounts sure are nice.

What’s the best place you’ve traveled to and why?

Jamaica and Mexico were nice to see. Nashville is awesome. But the true answer will always be Vegas. I’ve seen concerts, magicians, and other shows there. It has great pool parties, nightclubs, blackjack, sports gambling. Vegas has everything and is the best!

What TV show or movie are you most ashamed to admit you love?

WWE pro wrestling. I don’t watch it as much anymore, but I still follow what’s going on and catch the big shows. I’ve also been to it in person a lot.

Favorite shows of all time: Dexter, The Wire, Sopranos, and Breaking Bad.

If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

Arby’s. A beef n’ cheddar with curly fries and Arby’s sauce is the best meal imaginable. I’ve loved Arby’s my whole life, and somehow, they keep getting even better as they add more sandwiches and things to the menu.

Do you have any special talents?

I can make minute rice in 58 seconds.

I played drums for about five years in the school bands and drum lessons. I won a few solo medals and made it to state one year. I switched to learning guitar a few years ago and have acoustic and electric ones.

Also, if you’ve been to any of the holiday after-parties: karaoke.
