Singlewire Spotlight: Travis [INTERVIEW]

Each month, we feature one of our stellar team members on our blog. Learn more about them and what they do at Singlewire.

How long have you been at Singlewire and what’s your position?

I’ve been lucky enough to be with Singlewire Software for two years as a Video Production Specialist.

Please describe what you do at Singlewire.

I’m the resident video nerd in the office. I create video content ranging from marketing materials to tutorials on how to use our software, and videos that support our customer success and sales teams. If it’s a moving picture, I’ve probably been involved.

What do you like best about working at Singlewire?

The people! There’s a lot of good people in the office who care about their work and care about each other. They’re all wicked smart too. It’s the place to be.

What’s been your favorite project you’ve worked on here?

I’ve enjoyed working on a video about the history of Singlewire. The video isn’t complete yet, but I’ve been getting to talk to people about all the things that have forged this company into what it has become. There are some crazy stories out there that include fires, floods, and a genetic experiment gone wrong!

Where do you see Singlewire in the next five years?

Singlewire will most certainly continue to be a leader in keeping people safe and informed in five years… but by then we’ll be working on software to expand our mass notification offering to support the people colonizing Mars!

What’s the best place you’ve traveled to and why?

Ottawa. They’ve got beaver tails, hockey, and Tom Green beer.

If you could witness any historical event, what would you want to witness?

The American Revolution. Not the war so much, though that would be unbelievable too, but all the events, miscommunication, unlikely timing, and unique cultural influences that all converged to construct the most improbable and influential event that happened to this chunk of land in who knows how many thousands of years.

Tell us a little about your family.

Oh gladly! My oldest son, Maverick, is a French bulldog. He’s incredible! While working from home during covid, he was the perfect copilot in the office. He loves having a 10-month-old human brother because whenever we drop his brother off at daycare, Maverick and I visit a nearby dog park! Maverick is a big ole ham and is very, very food-driven. So, if you see him in the office, food is the quickest way to his heart. He was adopted when he was 4 and hadn’t been on a couch before or experienced common things like mud or swimming so we try to include him in everything so he can get to experience all the good things in life. If you’re ever in the office swing by my desk, I’d love to show you some pictures!

What was the last book you read?

“If You Give a Mouse a Cookie”

What is the best concert you’ve ever attended?

I’ve had the opportunity to work in an arena where we hosted a ton of concerts that I was able to experience. Justin Timberlake, George Strait, Lady Gaga, Bruce Springsteen, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, U2, Disney on Ice… seriously, I should write them all down sometime. But my favorite concert wasn’t really a concert at all, it was the Hamilton show. Simply incredible.
